Tuscany
Tuscany is a region unmatched by any other in terms of its gentle landscapes,
the harmony between nature and architecture and the lifestyle of its people.
Tuscany - already the name awakens ideas, memories and desires. Ranges of hills dissolving
in sunlight, orderly rows of cypress trees, the cathedral-dome of Florence, the suntanned faces of farmers sitting at open fireplaces, joyful women with their simple yet so exquisite dishes or the dealers on the markets - the list is endless.
Tuscany - desires rising from the bottom of our souls, longing for comfort and harmony. Scents and moody landscapes fill our dreams and fantasies like a tender melody.
The rhythm of our lives changes. The vital strenght returns to gaze in wonder,
to discover and to enjoy.
Umbria
Umbria, another region in the centre of Italy still has less tourism than its neighbour,
Tuscany because of the lack of important cities like Florence and Siena.
Umbria has long been a well-kept secret. This region has remained a rather reserved rural area of farmers and saints shut off from the rest of the world. But the region will appeal to the patient and attentive traveller.
Umbria does not lend itself to international tourism in the same way as Tuscany does.
The traveller to Umbria will feel comfortable as a result of this modesty.
The area has simply remained more ‘Italian’.
You will find gentle hills here, too, often covered with olive groves. But also characteristic of Umbria’s landscapes are large forests, as well as rapid rivers, that have made their way through gorges throughout the centuries. A little bit more than half of this area consists of mountains.
Take time to explore the numerous Middle Age villages that are spread throughout the region with their churches and monasteries whose art is historically significant. At many of these places the traveller will notice that religion is still essential to the people living there. Visitors will follow the footsteps of St. Francis of Assisi who left his mark in his Umbrian home town forever.
