Fonterutoli is a small hamlet with perhaps 90 inhabitants whose history can be traced back to the Etruscans. Since 1435 it has been in the hands of the Mazzei family, from which famous writers, scientists and wine-makers have emerged. The hamlet still retains its original structure. The central point of the hamlet is the small main piazza with its little church and the villa of the Mazzei family opposite. In the park of the villa is a well-kept swimming pool for the use of the guests of the vacation apartments. Most of the inhabitants depend on winemaking to make a living.

Every wine, which the vineyard Castello di Fonterutoli produces, is valued by connoisseurs all round the world because of its high quality and it regularly receives excellent evaluations from Gambero Rosso or Veronelli to name just two respected wine guides. Enjoy the special atmosphere of this special place but also the variety, which the Chianti Classico area offers you. Many other vineyards tempt you to try their wine, for example Castello di Cacchiano or Riecine. Castellina and Radda are worthwhile destinations for excursions in the vicinity. It is easy to reach the cities of art Florence and Siena.

The 4 holiday apartments are in various buildings in the hamlet. The well-kept swimming is about 200 m away. There is a well-managed restaurant.

Limonaia is a generous apartment, which can be reached via an external staircase. In front of the entrance there is a small loggia covered with wisteria.
